Kunming Medical University (KMU), formerly known as Kunming Medical College was founded in 1933 and has since established itself as the largest specialized medical university of higher medical education, scientific research and medical service in Yunnan, P.R. China. KMU has educated over 100,000 graduates since its inception. KMU has three campuses which occupy about 109 hectares. It has about 15,000 students, of which 2,811 graduate students and 6,199 staff and faculties, 1,450 professors and associate professors. KMU has over 60 foreign scholars as honorary professors and guest professors. There are 18 schools (departments), 15 affiliated hospitals with over 10,000 beds and 69 practice sites which provide a stable study and practical environment for students. Since 1998, KMU has recruited and trained graduate students, undergraduate students, advanced medical training students and Chinese language learning students from over 30 countries and regions. 

 

Programs for International Students

  1. Undergraduate Program 

6 year program: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program in Clinical Medicine 

Qualifications

  • Senior high school graduates or those with the same or above level.
  • Age: under 25
  • The average score of the school leaving exam including English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall be, in general, minimum 75% 
  • English level: The average records of English should be above 70

  1. Masters Program 

3 year program: Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Qualification

  • - Bachelor’s Degree or those with the same level
  • - HSK level: above 4 level 
  •  
  1. Doctoral Program

3-4 years program: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, and so on. 

Qualification

  • Master’s Degree or those with the same level
