Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) was established in 1958 and is a prominent higher education institution in China, specializing in medical education. It has two campuses, Yuexiu and Panyu, offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs. GMU is recognized under the Double First-Class Initiative and has achieved significant rankings and distinctions in various disciplines.
Clinical Medicine in GMU is enlisted in the Double First-Class Initiative. Ten disciplines enter the top 1% of ESI (Essential Science Indicators) global ranking, including Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Biology % Biochemistry, Immunology, Neuroscience & Behavior, Microbiology, Psychiatry/Psychology, Material Science, and Chemistry. Clinical medicine enters the top 1% of ESI global ranking. GMU is ranked 72nd in mainland China according to the ESI comprehensive ranking.
FACULTY
A total of 8,587 staff are working at GMU, including recipient of Medal of the Republic, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Cheungkong Scholars, recipient of National Nature Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, candidates for New century Talents Project, national top instructors, national experts with outstanding contributions, and the State Council Special Allowance experts. The faculty comprises 683 supervisors for PhD candidates and 1,339 supervisors for master students.
PROGRAMS
GMU emphasizes all-round development, offering 22 undergraduate programs in fields like medicine, science, management, engineering, and law. It is a pioneer in the Excellent Doctors Training Programme, dedicated to producing socially responsible, skilled professionals. The university has national and provincial-level teaching teams, outstanding courses, and modern teaching facilities. Among them, 17 are recognized as national first-class undergraduate programs. GMU is home to 15,222 students, including 10,030 undergraduates and 5,192 post graduates.

Bachelor of Clinical Medicine Programmes: English-Teaching Program
Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) began offering the Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine (taught in English) for international students in 2010. Over 300 students from various countries, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Ghana, and America, are currently enrolled. The program, lasting six years, includes a one-year internship in GMU-affiliated hospitals.
The curriculum covers Chinese culture, biomedical sciences, behavioral sciences, humanities, social sciences, medical ethics, prevention medicine, and clinical medicine.
Clinical medicine courses: Diagnostics, Radiodiagnosis, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthetics, Oncology, Stomatology, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Contagious Disease/ Infectious Disease, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Venerology, Otolaryngology, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry etc.
GMU provides scholarships, including the Guangdong Provincial Scholarship for outstanding international students.
